This in-service will apply toward the first national DCI certification for teaching multimedia/video in the classroom. Most teachers have gained their experience from a degree in broadcasting or employment at a local TV station. This national certification will provide teachers the skills to train their students not only in reading, writing, and communication, but it will provide their students with actual hands-on experience they can apply toward future employment.
In today’s demographics, 80% of the job market lies in sales, training, catalogs, and streaming, not the TV studio.  In order to provide our students with an edge, we must teach them application skills balanced with an exciting classroom environment.  Everyone knows that Peter Jennings presents himself well on camera and delivers compelling news, but someone had to grasp the story and produce the piece before Mr. Jennings could present the information.
